First Quoddy Boat Shoe

Purchased Quoddy slippers last year and they have been great.

Recently purchased a pair of brown Canoe boat shoes which were on sale.

Took a couple of weeks to arrive, but finally came last week.

The quality of the shoes is fantastic and they are beautifully made. Leather is top notch tho not as supple as I would expect.

I wear boat shoes at least 95% of the time during all seasons and always sockless. This if or at least the last45 years. Have owned many brands both domestically and foreign made (none from China, tho). Every pair has been 10D and required minimal break in. Quality has varied and not always with the price. Grew up in the Shoe City in Massachusetts and an awful lot of my shoes have been made in Maine and Massachusetts.

These new ones are cut on a narrow last and will require several weeks to make them comfortable. Am wearing them inside approximately four hours a day. The left shoe is pretty good now, but the right one will take a while. Am a little disappointed, but will persevere. Buying a wider shoe or a longer one is not an option, as they would not break correctly. Unfortunately with mail orders, trying before buying is not practical.

I try very hard to buy American and am glad Quoddy is an option.
