One of the benefits of purchasing handsewn Quoddy shoes is that when the sole wears out or a stitch gets loose, rather than toss them, you can have them resoled or repaired by the same skilled hands that built them.
When you choose our resoling service, we remove the old soles and replace them with new units (you can even change the color if you want). We also spruce up the leather and replace the laces. What you receive back is a pair of shoes that you may not recognize (except they already fit like a glove... and the service costs less than buying a new pair).
Depending on where you want your shoes sent, choose the U.S. or International repair package below and be sure to provide any special instructions in the box at checkout.
U.S. customers will be sent a prepaid UPS label that can be affixed to any box similar in size to a shoe box, and we will take care of the rest. After your confirmation email from Quoddy, you'll receive a separate email from UPS within one business day. To access the label, just click on the link in the UPS email when you are ready to ship (the link will expire in 30 days).
Note: International customers must cover their own shipping to our returns department in Maine, and we will cover return cost.
*Unfortunately, Crepe Wrap soles are no longer available. Instead we suggest our new Vibram NewFlex Wrap sole, available in Red, Black, Dark Brown or White. Please note your selection in the 'Special Instructions' field at checkout. Slippers cannot be resoled or refurbished.
I wanted to change the style of sole, because the original did not wear well ..I noted that when I sent the shoes back..however I apparently did not check the appropriate boxes.. no contact back to me to clarify..as a returning customer I was disappointed..
Had a pair of Ralph Lauren Chukkas, made by another well-known company. They would not resole their product as I wanted. Quoddy did and did a beautiful job. Shoes look brand new w/liners, everything! Could not be happier!
I've had a few pair of the Grizzly Mocs over the years. In the past I purchased with the Chromepak sole, but the latest pair were the Vibram option. Honestly I think the Chromepak may have worn just a little longer before needing to be refurbished, but if they get just a little damp the Chromepak sole can get quite slippery. I wear them frequently (mostly inside, but occasionally outside) and the Virbram lasted me about 2 years. As soon as small hole started, I sent them in for refurbishment and they came back within a couple of weeks looking and feeling great. The soles are brand new and I think I'll get another couple years at least. Quoddy's Mocs are expensive, but well worth the price in my opinion. Personally, I highly recommend the Vibram sole and refurbishment as soon as a wear spot forms forms a small hole in any area.
...so why not keep them for as long as possible?
This isn't my first rodeo with having a pair of my Quoddy's refurbed and resoled. The same level of quality and craftsmanship that went into making these moccasins originally, is what you get when you have them refurbished.
And compared to buying a new pair, having your Quoddy's refurbished is the best deal going. The included shipping and the relatively fast turn around makes the choice a no-brainer. Got some well-loved Quoddy's? Get 'em refurbed and love 'em some more.
