Our classic boat shoe gets sporty with a sleeker ship or shore look. Hand-tooled and handsewn uppers are built to last. True moc construction envelopes feet in comfort. The fine pull-up leather is soft, durable and features color variances and sheen, that make each individual pair unique. Equipped with our full perimeter lacing system that adjusts for a secure fit. The uppers are finished with rust-resistant lacquered eyelets and rawhide laces. Runabout’s outsoles are made with Vibram® rubber cup sole, a premium molded rubber compound that absorbs shock, cushions feet and provides great traction on decks, docks or city streets. Handmade in Maine.
*Please keep in mind some upper materials may be worn beyond repair. What you receive back is a pair of shoes that you can wear for years to come. (Environmentally friendly and obviously costs less than buying a new pair).

Wow, what a fabulous shoe. And super comfortable right out of the bag! And customer service for follow up questions and additional ordering requests was absolutely unbelievable, thank-you Elizabeth!! These Runabouts went from the bag to barefoot comfort the day they arrived. So impressed I ordered a pair of Canoe’s and a great Quoddy belt which matched both pairs despite their different colourways! Size wise, I’m a 10.5 in everything but after reading fitment info on a bunch of Quoddy styles in the Boat/Canoe ranges where some said their regular size was too tight, I decided to go a half size larger. Good choices as both the Runabout and the Canoe fit great, snug even but with room to stretch or tighten up later via a lacing adjustment if necessary.
Final comments IMHO…..the Runabout is a casual wider, looser fitting shoe while the Canoe is a slimmer, more fitted shoe that can dress up or down depending on your mood.

I’m Canadian and this was my first purchase from Quoddy…and to let the cat out of the Quoddy shoe bag, another pair is on the way already. I have very high standards for shoes, build quality and “Made in Canada or the USA” companies to support our economies! So real quick, Sperry’s have been good to me, so have Sebago’s. But finding either hand made in the U.S. is really not possible anymore. So my mission was to find the best of the best! And Canadians aren’t really known for their boat shoes so it was a given I’d be buying from my American friends on the east coast.
Step 1: I Googled “best boat Mocs/Canoes” a few weeks ago and was led to 3 companies in Maine, Quoddy obviously being one of them. Deciding to buy US for a Canadian is expensive, very expensive lol but I truly believe you get what you pay for so I decided it was time for fabulous boats or canoes…couldn’t make up my mind initially.
Step 2: Read the reviews - hundreds of them - to gauge customer satisfaction and figure out sizing because this was going to be an on-line purchase and we don’t have Quoddy’s in Canada and I hate the hassle of re-shipping things back and on and on and on and blah, blah…we’ve all been there at some time or another.
Step 3: Contrary to a whole bunch of sizing comments, either “true to size” or “fits big” or “fits small”, I went with the “fits small” based on a gut feeling about some reviewers “commenting…
