For what it’s worth
I love the canoe shoe. A couple things though. Of the three I’ve had custom made, none of them fit the same. Each pair fits differently…as-well-as each shoe. Meaning that in each pair, one shoe is bigger than the other (slight but noticeable). Of course one foot could be bigger but I don’t have this problem with any other brand. Also and possibly worse is that the heel collar of each left shoe on all three pairs is noticeably lower (1/8” possibly). I addressed this with Quoddy and they suggested tightening the laces. This did not help and I did not bother trying to correct this advice or purse it any further. The left shoe just sits a little lower on the heal. Another thing with all three is someone didn’t read/ignored my notes asking to please not glue down the insert. I’ve spent hours (literally) on each pair coaxing the heavily glued insert out. It never comes off completely. This is necessary for me personally because I have to use arch support inserts that don’t fit when accompanied by the glued factory inserts. I find the arch supports necessary because without them I couldn’t wear the shoes for an hour without throbbing feet and plantar fasciitis pains. I tried explicitly with this most recent pair and I’m not exaggerating. All this said, I do love the canoe shoe and wear them daily. The longevity of them is proving to be superb. I’ve had the first pair (Chromexcel Whiskey) for probably 5+ years and they look/fit incredible broken in. Getting near needing a resole but…
