gorgeous shoe but i had fit issues that never got better with wear. i have a low volume foot that is also a little wide but not quite enough to order E size in other shoes (wear vans old skool 8D, red wing iron ranger 7.5D). i wore these sockless. initial wear was very painful, crushing the tips of smaller toes and tight across the top of them especially when flexing during a step. many older reviews said the leather would dramatically expand with wear so i stuck it out for 6 months of occasional wear. I used a shoe stretcher, thick socks, etc. which helped but not enough to ever be tolerable. the point is that shoe length seemed true to size but the width ran narrow. the shoe did stretch but only by a small amount; i suspect older reviews of shoes made with horween chromexcel stretched much more. leather and craftsmanship were otherwise entirely faultless and i was sad to give these shoes away.

These shoes are the closest you’ll find to the original LLB shoes we all wore in the late 70s to mid 90s, when that company ended making good Blucher moccasins. The Quoddy version is comfortable right out of the box and the craftsmanship is superb . After only 2 days of wear I feel like i’m walking in faithful footwear I’ve had for years. My feet run a bit wide and I’d like another pair custom made with just this slight alteration but I’m in no hurry. This new pair have stretched and shaped around my foot in the nicest way. The leather is quality, the soles are like the originals, and the overall look and feel are exactly what I have looked for. I would say don’t hesitate if you want to have the preppie blucher experience you lived in the past. Quoddy bluchers are worth every penny.
