A Note About Soles

You will see five different soles that Quoddy uses on our shoes and boots.

Crepe Bottom Sole
Crepe - Natural latex crepe rubber sole

Crepe: Our crepe soles are cut from natural latex crepe rubber that is derived from the Brazilian Hevea tree.  We then handsew the rubber onto the upper of the boot.

Chromepak Bottom Sole
Chromepak - Our rugged leather sole

Chromepak: Our rugged leather sole is cut from a hefty side of 14 oz leather with origins are in the saddle trade.  Note:  This is very durable – think of how many dress shoes you have with leather soles that are much less hefty than this – these pups last a long time.  Plus, we can resole your shoes ad infinitum.  Not recommended for long range exposure to wet conditions of course (though those who treat them with our Waterproofer would beg to differ).

Stitch On Soles

Stitch-On Soles: Our molded soles come in two, soon to be three, styles.  We have a traditional low profile boat sole with siping for wet traction.  A new Vibram sole for rugged utility.  And our tried-and-true camp sole for casual versatility.  All of these are low profile and flexible to maintain that moccasin feel that connects you to the earth.  All three are also replaceable – they are held on by rugged stitching, not glue.  You’ll never get a “flapper” sole unless you cut those stitches up.

NOTE: Vibram sole is now available in four shades: brick, charcoal, white, and natural.
